Introduction: 90 years of rugby

The PSA is the oldest semi-junior club in Scotland, and this extensive part of the site has dozens of photographs, records and personal memories.

We have divided it into seven main sections (see side menu) roughly corresponding to the decades since 1919, each section containing links to individual pages with photographs from that particular decade.

There is also a special page with all those PSA boys who have gone on to play rugby for Scotland, and one listing the officials of the club over the years.

Pleasant Sunday Afternoon

For almost 70 years it had clubrooms in the centre of Hawick - where Lauries the Engineers are now - with a number of facilities for sports and other recreations. This included billiards tables, table tennis, darts, cards and many other games. The club also played host to other local societies, such as the Judo Club.

The PSA Social Club knew many years of success; but times change, and in 1961 the centre itself closed, though parts of it lived on (one was the famous PSA choir).

The rugby team it founded in 1919 continues today - and as strong as ever.
