25 Feb 2006: PSA 22 Jed Thistle 3

kicked a penalty to start the scoring, the forwards were on top form and won good ball for Greg Bouglas to run hard
for the first try with Sean Potts converting. Jed added a penalty, but Nicky Little scored a good try,
Lee Armstrong converting. PSA were well in command by this time, but credit to Jed: they never gave up and were
contributing to an entertaining game. Greg Bouglas scored his second try to round of a good game by him. Nicky

18 Feb 2006: PSA 0 Kelso Quins 34
| In probably one of their worst games of the season,PSA were well beat by a good Kelso side. They allowed them to score 4
tries,3 convs,1 penalty,in the first half. In the second half their defence tightened up and Kelso managed
to score only 1 try. But this is what the development league is all about and allows the coaches
to try out some changes with some of the fringe players, a good learning process for some of the younger players.

PSA 29 Berwick Colts 5
| In cold windy conditions PSA had a good win against a determined BERWICK side. Greg Cunningham scored the first try
for PSA. BERWICK then hit back with a try, but PSA settled down and the forwards began to get on top. Ross Gibson
got the next try then another was added by Craig Richardson, with Sean Potts converting. In the second half PSA made
some subs but their momentum carried on and Callum Whillans scored a good try. By this time the cold was getting
to the players but both teams still tried to play handling rugby. Ross Godfrey ran well to get the final try converted
by Callum Whillans. A good win for the youngsters |

PSA 39 Melrose Hornets 10
| This young PSA side without a few of the regulars secured a good victory against Melrose. They started well parked
in the Melrose half, before the pressure paid off: Greg Bouglas ran in for a good try, then Josh Farmer added a try which
was converted by Lee Armstrong. Ross Gibson got another try before half time. Melrose got a try back, but PSA were well in command,
and next to score with two tries was Lee Armstrong, one being converted by Greg Easton. PSA used all their subs,
but never lost their momentum and further tries were scored by Dale Johnstone and Greg Cunningham. Melrose did get a
try back, but the result was a sound victory for PSA. Another good win with all the subs playing their part.
The team was well led by captain of the day Keith Davies, and Lee Armstrong had one of his best games.

PSA 14 Selkirk YC 5
| PSA rounded off their league programme with a good victory against Selkirk Youth Club. Both sides started cautiously with
PSA playing in the Selkirk half, playing well but unable to turn pressure into points. Breaking out of their own half
Martin Punter threw out a long pass which was intercepted by Selkirk to score a try. Before half time Craig Waldie
took a pass and ran in for a well taken try, Neil Renwick converting. PSA were playing well their forwards matching Selkirk,
and pressure paid off when Ross Gibson scored a good try which was converted by Neil Renwick. Selkirk tried hard to
get back into the game but PSA's defence held on. A hard earned victory by the whole team.
Keith Davies was on good form as was Craig Richardson in the forwards. Josh Farmer also had a strong game. |

PSA 12 Hawick Wanderers 8
| In this rearranged friendly game PSA came out on top. In front of a large crowd, both teams played a dour
but attractive rugby. The defences cancelled each other out,and the only score in the first half was a penalty for
Wanderers kicked by A Wear. In the second half G Desport scored a try for Wands, but PSA did not give in and
after the forwards secured a good ball G Easton made a break and passed to C Waldie to run in for a good try. Both teams
were using their subs, and the game was well balanced, but PSA got the killer blow, K Davies running in
for an excellent try with 5 minutes to go, and N Renwick adding the conversion. A good all round team effort
with every player playing his part.

Hawick Wanderers 39 PSA 28
| PSA's forwards were outstanding in this local derby clash. They scored first a penalty by
Neil Renwick after that they lost the place and Wands cashed in and scored 2 quick tries (both converted) and a penalty. It
looked like it was going to be a landslide but PSA had other plans. Josh Farmer got a try,
which was converted by Neil Renwick, then Ross Gibson added a try. Wanderers then got a try, which
they converted. Sean Potts scored a good try which
Neil Renwick converted and also added a penalty to take the lead. By this PSA's forwards were well in command
but Wands pacy backs began to show, and with the PSA tiring, they ran in for 3 quick tries. This was a most
entertaining game by both teams in front of a large crowd; Chris Ritson settled into a steady game and
linked up well with Josh Farmer who had a good game, but this was PSA's forwards day. |

Gala Wanderers 34 PSA 0
| Playing at Netherdale on Saturday against the League leaders, PSA came out of this game with a lot of credit. The match
kicked-off and Gala scored and converted within the first few minutes to make the score 7-0, but the PSA forwards stuck in
and were more than a match for their counterparts for the rest of the first half with Gala only kicking a penalty
just before half-time for a 10-0 lead. Ten minutes into the second half and PSA let in a rather soft try
which was converted. PSA were starting to find the going tough and when Gala started to run the ball
in the backs another three tries were scored two of which were goaled to make the final score 34-0.

15 Oct 2005: Melrose Wasps 16 PSA 16
| PSA were at their most disapointing in their worst display of the season,
and once more they only started to play in the second half of the game. Melrose started well scoring a try and conversion,
but PSA's handling was terrible - they could not settle at all. Melrose kicked a penalty
to make it 0-10 at half-time. At last they started to play better. Sean Potts got a try followed by a penalty
by Neil Renwick. Lee Armstrong scored a good try, Melrose hitting back with another penalty. Neil Renwick

08 Oct 2005: Kelso Quins 10 PSA 45

by the coaches at half time to motivate them. Kelso scored first with a penalty, but Craig Waldie ran well
for the first of his hat-trick of tries. Neil Renwick made a lovely break and Ross Borthwick came in at
pace to score a good try, with Neil Renwick converting. Kelso scored a try and conversion on half time. PSA

23 Sep 2005: PSA 8 Hawick Wanderers 28

scored first, kicking a penalty by A Weir. PSA's defence was holding up well, but then Wands got a try by

10 Sep 2005: PSA 3 Gala Wanderers 50
| PSA were well beaten by a good Gala side, although they never gave trying. The hard running backs of Gala
tested the PSA defence to the full. In good conditions Gala were slow to get into their stride and PSA
were equal to them for a short period. Altogether Gala ran in for 7 tries, converting 6 of them. They also
kicked a penalty. PSA's only score was a penalty by Neil Renwick,
but all round there was some plus points for the coaches to work on. In the forwards Alistair Turnbull
and Nicky Little had steady games, while Sean Potts and Lee Armstrong were good in the backs.

03 Sep 2005: Peebles Colts 7 PSA 18
| The PSA's first venture away this season to Hay Lodge Park in Peebles proved a successful one. Unlike last Saturday
the Hawick boys were on the pace from the first whistle, and with backs and forwards combining well,
that allowed winger Dale Johnstone to score in the corner. Shortly after, Neil Renwick added a penalty,
but smart work by the Peebles No 9 led to a score which was converted, making PSA 8 Peebles 7 at half-time. In the second
half Peebles started with a bang but good PSA defence held them out. Gradually the Hawick boys were starting to
take control and a good forward drive produced a try by No 8 Ross Gibson. This was converted by Neil Renwick,
who was later to slot another penalty, making the final score PSA 18 Peebles 7. This was a much improved all-round
display by the Burnfoot boys and gives confidence for the rest of the season. |

27 Aug 2005: PSA 12 Selkirk Youth Club 29
| Selkirk caught PSA cold in the first few minutes of this opening encounter of the new season:
within 5 minutes of the kick-off Selkirk had profited from defensive slips to score two tries, one of which was converted. A
well-taken try by Neil Renwick - converted by Neil himself - got PSA back into the game, but still Selkirk kept
coming and they managed to add two tries before half-time, with Dale Johnstone pulling
another one back for PSA. The second-half was close, and it was only in the dying minutes of the game
that Selkirk got through for a try, which was converted by the visitors. This was a tough first game for the PSA,
but we had a young side and the experience gained in this match is sure to bring the team on a lot.
