![]() 2007-08Josh Farmer was captain this year; David Blair took over from Derek Nicholson as President; and the new clubrooms opened at the Cricket Club.League performance was not quite so high as it had been, but the young squad played well, and with a bit of luck things might have been very different Social events were, as usual, well catered for - including a very successful Burns night on 16 Feb 2008. Fine contributions were given by speakers G Tinlin, J Renwick, I Nichol, E Davies, J Kirk, R Nichol and A Renwick, followed by singers J Tait, G Tinlin, C Ritson and C Rudkin. Renditions of poetry and verse were superbly expressed by C Rudkin (Tam O'Shanter) and J Tullie (Holy Willie's Prayer). |
Memories and photosWe are always looking for new photos or memories of these past years. If you can help, then please contact either the committee or the web editor. Adie Renwick looks back on the seasonThis has been an up and down season for us: losing narrowly our first three league games did not help our young team, and it took time and a lot of hard work by the coaches and players to turn things round. Confiidence was built up and the second half of our league campaign saw much improvement, which augurs well for next season. Our cup run - in a tough pool - was much better, and only defeats by Gala Wanderers and a streetwise Murrayfield Wanderers side meant we failed to qualify for the playoffs. A big disappointment for the club, players and coaches. However, all is not gloom and doom. We have had to rely this season on a very young squad, full of potential, who are making improvement every week - and if this continues, season 2008-09 should be one to remember for all at Burnfoot. |
